Rules
Sportsmanship: All players must conduct themselves in a polite and sportsmanlike manner.
Self-Calling: Teams are responsible for calling faults committed by their own players.

If there is a dispute on a call, re-serve the play.
Clean Contact: All balls must be hit cleanly.

No scooping or carrying is allowed.

A double-hit is permitted only off a driven ball (e.g., ball contacting the arm and head in one continuous motion).
Net Violations: Contact with the net (except hair) results in loss of point.

A player crossing under the net is allowed as long as there is no contact with the net or interference with play.
-
Note: If the wind causes the net to touch a player, it is not a fault and play should continue.
Serving Rules:

A served ball may not be blocked, spiked, or volleyed directly back over the net.

A serve may be received with a volley, but it must be passed to a teammate (not sent directly back over the net).
Blocking:
-
A block or partial block does not count as one of a team’s three hits.
Body Contact:
-
The ball may be played with any part of the body.
Gender Requirements:
-
A maximum of 2 men and 2 women are allowed on the court at one time.
-
Teams may play with fewer players if they have at least one man and one woman on the court.
Playoff Eligibility:
-
Players must have participated in a minimum of 2 sessions to qualify for playoffs.
Score Keeping:
-
Winners of the match record the score at the admin desk.
-
Scores not written result in zero points for both teams.

Reverse 4's Additional Rules & Exceptions
Court Positioning:
-
There are no court position restrictions.
-
However, service rotation must stay consistent throughout the game.
-
Example: A player can stay at the net or back row all game, but each player must serve in the correct rotation order.
No Open-Handed Tipping:
-
Players must hit the ball cleanly when sending it over the net with one hand:
-
Using the heel or palm of the hand (roll shot)
-
Locked fingers and wrist ("cobra")
-
Knurled fingers ("camel toe")
-
Back of the hand with locked wrist and knuckles
-
-
No "dinks" or open-handed tips are allowed.
Setting into Opponent’s Court:
-
If a player sets or volleys the ball into the opponent’s court:
-
Contact must be made with two hands above the shoulders.
-
The ball must be set directly forward or backward relative to the player’s body (feet, hips, and shoulders aligned).
-
No dumping is allowed, even on the third hit.
-
Men's Attack Rules:
-
Men must take off from behind the attack line when spiking (back-row attacks only).
-
Men may only block other men.
-
Men may contact the ball while standing in front of the attack line, but:

The ball must travel in an upward trajectory
-
It must cross over the opponent’s attack line.
-
Net Take down Checklist:
-
Two attack lines and four pegs.
-
One SPECTRUM net.
-
Double check contents.
-
Take bag to ADMIN DESK.
Late to the Game:
-
If your whole team is late 15 minutes from game start, your team defaults the set.

In the case of a field rainout situation, we will be contacting teams officially via email by 3:00 PM to decide if we are playing that day.
