General Guidelines for Participants:
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, all participants must follow these guidelines and instructions:
1. Health and Safety Protocols:

Health Check:
All participants must complete a self-health check before attending each session. If you exhibit any symptoms of illness (fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, etc.), please stay home. Captains are responsible for checking in with their team and making the appropriate substitutions. -
Illness on Site:
If you begin to feel unwell during the session, immediately inform one of the organizers. You may be asked to leave the facility to protect the health and safety of others. -
Symptom Check:
Upon arrival, participants will complete a verbal COVID-19 symptom checklist with a league representative before entering the gym. -
Face Masks:
Wearing a non-medical mask is optional, but encouraged. Masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be available on-site if needed. -
Hand Hygiene:
Participants are required to sanitize their hands before and after using equipment and engaging in physical activity. Hand sanitizers will be provided in the gym. -
Washroom Etiquette: Participants are required to wash their hands after use of the washroom. If there is no hand soap, please advise the organizer. We will have additional supplies on site.

Respiratory Etiquette:
Please cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, preferably with a tissue or your elbow. Sanitize or wash your hands after these occurrences. -
Physical Distancing:
While physical distancing is not required, participants are encouraged to spread out within the gym to maximize space.
2. Facility Use and Access:

Restricted Areas:
Participants are permitted only in the large gym ( with bleachers), large gym (without bleachers), entrance area, and washroom/change rooms. All other areas of the school are off-limits, including hallways, classrooms, and offices. Please avoid loitering in any designated spaces, prohibited areas, and outside the facility.

Gym Access:
The gym doors will open at 12:50 pm. Participants may arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their league time slot. This is to ensure there is no overlap of groups and to minimize exposure in case of transmissible diseases. You can only be in the gym or the adjacent washrooms/change rooms. Please respect the school's rules and stay within the permitted areas of the school.-
Please wait in the lobby until an organizer gives the all-clear to enter the gymnasium.

Do not take any equipment from the storage room until an organizer says it’s ready.

Only registered players are allowed inside.

Spectators or significant others must be cleared with an organizer.
-
Kids or personnel from the soccer fields are not permitted inside—washrooms are available outside the building for them.

Parking and Arrival:
-
Parking: There is parking available at Byrne Creek Community School. Please park in the designated green parking areas as shown on the facility map. Parking is shared with field participants. If the lot is full, you will have to find street parking.

Public Transit: If traveling by Skytrain, Edmonds Skytrain Station is the nearest station, just a 14-minute walk from the school.

Drop-Off: Parents must drop off participants at the entrance to the gym. They are not permitted to enter the facility during the program unless otherwise instructed.

Arrival Time: Please plan to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your session to allow time for check-in and health screening.

3. Navigating the Facility:

Directions from the Parking Lot to the Gym:
From the parking lot, follow the pathway that goes towards the track (indicated in yellow on the facility map). Walk past the two portable classrooms, turn left, and continue until you see the Parks & Rec washrooms. The gym entrance is next to the washrooms, facing the track. -

Refer to the facility map (attached) for a detailed layout of the school, including green zones (gym access), yellow zones (washrooms), and restricted red zones (off-limits areas).

4. Facility Rules and Behavior Expectations:

Volleyballs:
Please note that the school will not provide volleyballs. You are encouraged to bring your own ball if you want to practice. Leather volleyballs are not allowed. -
Footwear:

Acceptable Gym Shoes: White-soled, non-marking running shoes (preferably ones used only indoors).
-
Unacceptable Shoes: Street shoes, leather or rubber-soled shoes, or black-soled carbon-based running shoes.

Lost & Found:

Double-check you have all belongings before leaving.

If you forget something, contact Send It Athletics organizers directly. Please do not call the school—the school is not equipped to handle the large volume of items left behind every week. We’ll do our best to sweep the gym at closing each night.

Food and Drinks:
-
Only plain bottled water is permitted in the gym.
-
All drinks must have a liquid-tight cap or lid (e.g., no open cups).

No eating in the gym. If you need to eat, please do so outside the building and return after eating.

Equipment Hygiene:
Please sanitize your ball and wash your hands before leaving the gym at the end of the session. -
Health Screening:
All participants must complete a verbal COVID symptoms checklist at the start of each session. If you feel sick, please stay home. -
Respect for Restricted Areas:
Only the gym, washrooms, and entrances are accessible. Please avoid wandering into other areas of the school, such as classrooms or hallways. These areas are marked on the facility map as restricted (red) zones.
5. Emergency Procedures and On-Site Personnel:

Organizers on Site:
Send It Athletics organizers will be present at all times during the program. Organizers are trained in First Aid & CPR and other emergency response protocols. They will assist with any health-related concerns or emergencies that arise. -
Emergency Contact Information:
Please ensure that you have provided emergency contact information when registering for the program.
6. Communicable Disease Prevention:

Monitoring Health Alerts:
Send It Athletics will be monitoring health alerts from Fraser Health and other health authorities. Participants will be informed of any changes to the program or health protocols via email. -
Team Communication:
Team captains are responsible for keeping their teams informed about health updates, and they will assist with arranging substitutes for players who are sick.
Additional Notes:

No Loitering:
Participants are not allowed to loiter in hallways, other classrooms, or areas outside the gym and washrooms. After the session, please exit the building promptly. -
Emergency Situations:
In case of emergency, Send It Athletics organizers are trained to handle situations effectively, and they will make arrangements as necessary to ensure participants’ safety.
